How this countdown works

The calculator takes the difference between your target date/time and the current moment, then breaks that duration down into whole days, hours, minutes, and seconds. The display keeps counting down live, once per second, for as long as the page stays open.

Examples

A target 1 day, 2 hours, 3 minutes, and 4 seconds away shows as "1 day" with "02:03:04" remaining, updating every second. Once the target time arrives, the countdown shows "Time's up."

About this calculation

This uses your device's own clock and local time zone — the target date/time you enter is treated exactly as your browser would interpret it, with no server round-trip or external time source involved.

What happens if I pick a date in the past?

The calculator shows a validation message asking for a future date and time — a countdown to a moment that has already passed isn't meaningful.
